Life has been crazy in our house. Will went in to the doctor with his first ear infection on his 6 month birthday in September. We’ve been going in to the doctor every 2 or 3 weeks since then and have been on more antibiotics than I can list. When we thought we had that under control, we got RSV and another double ear infection. Bless his little heart, Will just hasn’t been able to catch a break. His ears had gotten so stopped up that it was affecting his hearing. We hadn’t really noticed, but the amount that he “talked” had been dwindling in the past month or so.
Friday we finally got tubes. I was so worried because he wasn’t going to be able to eat anything after midnight. He was really cranky and wouldn’t eat much before the cut off time. Luckily, he decided to make that a night he slept through the night. He even took not having breakfast pretty well.
We got to the hospital around 6:30 in the morning, got checked in, and played around in the waiting room for a little bit. They called us back and we got all settled into our little cubby in the big room. Everyone who needed to come see us did, then the doctor got there around 7:45. We were her first appointment so they took him back. 20 minutes or so later, they came and got us to sit with him while he woke up. The doctor said she suctioned a bunch of thick fluid out from behind his ear drums. After he woke up, he had a bottle. They made sure he was all good and sent us home around 8:30. He was in a good enough mood that we went and grabbed breakfast at Jim’s. He did really well. We got home and he crashed though. He slept quite a bit Friday.
Saturday he was doing a bit better. He was in good humor, but slept a lot. He and I went to dinner with Aunt Courtney and he was a ham at Papadeaux.
Today He was back to normal. We can tell he’s feeling so much better. He’s been yacking his little head off and dancing to music.
Here’s hoping that ears are all better and we are done with infections!
